Custom Manufacturing of a Shovel Apron for the Construction Industry

Custom Manufactured & Fabricated Steel Shovel Aprons

We were recently contracted by a local highway department to fabricate a number of these steel shovel aprons. They are intended for use on DOT dump trucks; mounting on the rear of the truck they help road crews to unload gravel for road repair. This customer needed varying quantities of this product fabricated annually, at Technical Fabrication; we have the flexibility to accommodate almost any production schedule. The aprons are fabricated from 14 gage sheet steel, and 3/8" thick hot rolled plate, and angle steel. Each finished apron featured dimensions of 90" in length, 24" in width, and 15" in height. Fabrication required bending, forming, and welding, individual components were formed using our shear and press brake. These components were then welded, ground smooth, with a yellow powder coat applied. We currently manufacture 30 to 60 of these shovel aprons per year with lead times of 8 to 12 weeks.
